Back to School September 2020

Return to School Dates

Years 1-6 will return to school on Thursday 3rd September 2020

Reception classes will return on Monday 7th September 2020

Nursery will have a staggered start - individual start dates have been sent to parents for their child. Please contact us if you are still not sure.

Arriving/ Leaving School

To ensure the safety of our school community, we are introducing a free-flow arrival and departure time for the start and end of the school day. This is to reduce the number of people on site at any one time.

You can drop your child at school between the following times: 8.30am - 9.15am

You can collect your child from school between the following times: 3.00pm - 3.30pm

Staff will be on the playground to direct you to the correct drop off and collection point for your child.

Please ensure that only one parent drops off or collects your child/ children. Children can be collected by grandparents, other relatives or childminders.

Children can only be collected by other children's parents by prior arrangement only. Please contact school or speak to your child's class teacher in advance to inform them if this needs to happen.

As part of our COVID 19 risk assessment measures we are asking that children do not get changed for PE in school. This will mean coming to school in their PE clothes. Weather permitting we will be encouraging outdoor PE sessions. Children should wear plain, dark joggers/ track suit bottoms for outdoor PE lessons.

Our PE kit is:

Black Shorts

Black Pumps

White T-Shirt

School Lunches

Children can either bring a packed lunch or can have a school dinner. Our kitchens will provide either a packed lunch bag (children will be able to choose the filling for their sandwiches) or a hot meal which will be served in a lidded container.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, lunches will be eaten in the classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I do if I need to meet with a teacher at the start or end of the day?

A: Teachers will not be available to meet with parents at the start or end of the day. If necessary please email hello@bentleyfederation.org.uk and we will ask the teacher to contact you by phone.

Q: What should I do if my child is anxious about attending school again, has suffered bereavement or trauma during lockdown?

A: Please inform us so that we can put a plan of support into place for your child.

Q: What should I do if my child is clinically vulnerable or has medical concerns that means they are at risk?

A: Please inform school straight away, so that we can put an individual risk assessment into place for your child.

As mentioned previously, prior to your child attending school, we will be sending out a teacher information sheet to share with your child to familiarise themselves with their new teacher and a feedback sheet for you to complete to share any concerns or worries you have about your child returning to school. We will also be asking all parents to agree and sign a copy of the home school agreement during the first week back. This has been implemented to ensure the safety of all children, staff and parents.

Q: What should I do if my child or someone in my house has symptoms of COVID-19?

A: Children with symptoms of COVID-19 must not attend for any reason. Children from a household in which someone has symptoms of COVID-19 must also not attend.

Q: What will happen if my child or another child in class develops symptoms of COVID 19 in school?

A: If staff notice a child displaying symptoms of COVID-19:

The usual method of contacting parents will be immediately followed.

The child will be removed from class and isolated behind a closed door in the medical room.

Any staff accompanying the child will wear full PPE.

Children must be collected promptly by one adult, to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.

Parents/carers must book and attend a test for their child. The result of this must be communicated to school. The child may not attend school while awaiting results.

If a child has symptoms then it is probable that the whole bubble will have to self isolate for 7 days.

School will contact our local Public Health Team for guidance.

In the event of a positive test, all children and staff from that pupil’s ‘bubble’ will be sent home and required to self-isolate for 14 days. Other household members of that group do not have to isolate unless their child develops symptoms.

Home learning will continue to be provided for all year groups on the school website.
