We are part of the Bentley Federation of Schools. The schools include Bentley West and King Charles Primary Schools and the Children’s Centre
King Charles is a 1 ½ form entry school, but due to demand for places at our school, we currently have 2 form entry in Reception, Key Stage 1, Year 3 and Year 4. The school is very fortunate to have large grounds, including a field, allotment area and woodland. We use our outdoor environment to enhance our learning and classes regularly participate in Forest Schools Activities.
King Charles is a happy, friendly school and we aim to be inclusive in everything that we do. We have high expectations of all of our children and expect them to achieve as well as they can.
We want the best for all of our pupils and set out clear expectations for behaviour, attendance and uniform. Behaviour at our school is good, we use ‘Good to be Green’ as a behaviour system and children are rewarded for following our rules. Ofsted May 2014 stated
|“The behaviour of pupils is good. Pupils behave well both in lessons and around the school”.|
We have worked hard to develop an exciting and engaging curriculum, which fires children’s imaginations and encourages them to develop a love of learning. We like to involve parents too, and regularly hold Inspire Days to share the work that the children are doing. The website gives you more information on the work that the classes have been doing and future activities for parents to get involved in.
As well as academic learning, we also believe that children thrive through being given the opportunity to participate in sports activities and other clubs. We are developing a comprehensive range of after school and lunchtime activities, which among other activities includes, football, cooking, dodgeball, skipping and art clubs.
We have an active School Council who is playing an increasingly active role in shaping our school. They have recently been working on an ‘Anti bullying’ charter.
We are pleased to work alongside Bentley Child Care to provide Breakfast and After School Clubs and Wraparound provision for our Nursery children. Bentley Child Care has a base at King Charles and also run a range of successful groups for parents.
Thank you for visiting our site. If you would like to know more about the exciting things happening at our school, please come and visit us!
